Hanifa Resort ’25 Collection is for Queens on Holiday

To rule a holiday is to have personal sovereignty.

Being on vacation is different from holding sway over it. To rule a holiday is to have personal sovereignty. And that’s what Hanifa’s latest resort collection exudes in its hues — entitlement to space in every sense of the word.

From the sultry imagery of its campaign teasers, Hanifa promised a fiery and powerful collection. It felt retro, like a hazy ’70s jungle film, yellow and red ingeniously at work to portray the freedom of owning one’s power. Upon its drop yesterday, the collection carried the aura of a regal figure, set against the relaxed, picturesque backdrop of Anse Lazio. Its colors transcend aesthetics — they channel self-esteem, high and balanced enough to fill a room like a blend of bergamot and lavender.

For this collection, gold is the cherry on the sundae. The gold plating on the chunky bangles and necklaces contrasts with last year’s collection, which had more silver accents. The bikinis feature gold connectors on their sides and cups. The golden banana bunch earrings add a layer of richness to the warm tones, creating an elegant and polished look.

Anifa Mvuemba subtly puts a new complexion on gallantry compared to the previous year. Bold brights dominate the palette. Pear green and lavender, complementing the foundational yellow and red, elevate the classic Caribbean tropical vibe. The result is a harmony that feels exotic, vibrant, and boastful — a salient departure from the cool, earthy palette of the 2024 Resort wanderer. That earlier collection, grounded in greens and browns, felt reserved — like a modern bohemian traveller sticking to their itinerary on a reflective journey to find themselves.

If 2024 followed a traveller in search of her roots, 2025 pictures her after discovery — bold, unruly, and free. Its palette is sumptuously tailored for women of color. It celebrates her splendor for the world to see, hurdling the restraint of its predecessor: modesty and an authority lodged deep inside. Hanifa’s 2025 resort collection seems to speak in tongues of power — and it’s still in with a shout. It’s only fair that one walks in the rays of the shine it reflects.
